A marvellous mutual love-in was hosted by Québécois quartet Le Vent du Nord – in whose decade-long coming of age Celtic Connections has played a significant springboard role – with three other top acts from Sweden, Ireland and Scotland, and a near-sellout Saturday night crowd. ELISE, Le Vent du Nord’s first music video, finally unveiled!

Set in an imaginery universe, ‘Élise’ has a dream-like quality. The evocative song from Le Vent du Nord brings us a love story that remains timeless throughout the ages. 'Élise' was directed by We are good guys’ Pierre-Luc Racine and combines animation with real footage. The music is from Le Vent du Nord’s album LA PART DU FEU (Borealis Records, 2009), winner of the 2011 JUNO for Best Roots & Traditional Album. Le Vent du Nord participates in the musical Christmas story Une étoile m'a dit (A Star Told Me)

Singer and actress Chloé Sainte-Marie invited Le Vent du Nord to participate in a Christmas musical based on the screenplay by Gilles Carle, UNE ÉTOILE M'A DIT. An adaptation in the form of storytelling and songs, the CD includes performances by Le Vent du Nord, Chloé Sainte-Marie, Émile Proulx-Cloutier, Bernard Adamus, Yves Desrosiers, Yves Lambert, Éloi Painchaud, Jonathan Painchaud, Henri-Paul Bénard, La Bande Magnétik, et Florent Vollant.

Official Selection of the jury of the WOMEX 2011

Le Vent du Nord was an official Selection of the jury of WOMEX 2011 and had an incredible experience at this annual event…the biggest international music fair in the world. More than 2,250 representatives from 98 countries attended between October 26-30, 2011. On October 29th, the final night of the conference, the band presented a fantastic performance at Foyer Stage 1 Koncerthuset, Copenhagen (Denmark). Of 750 candidates, only 36 were selected. Le Vent du Nord was the only band representing the music of the Quebec and Canada.
