Literally too! Le Vent du Nord had the honour of being part of the APHC at Sea BOSTON-MONTRÉAL cruise produced by famous US radio show A Prairie Home Companion hosted by Garrison Keillor. It was a fabulous experience! Our quartet played every night in front of 1,800 very enthusiastic passengers, converting them into fans at an incredible pace. The band even had the pleasure of performing while the MAASDAM was entering the St. Lawrence Gulf. It was beautiful! Read the cruise journal (with photos and videos) below. This week’s broadcast of APHC, July 23, will compile highlights from the live events onboard the MS Maasdam as the cast, passengers and crew sailed from Boston to Montréal. With special guests Le Vent du Nord, Genticorum, the reunited Hopeful Gospel Quartet, Peter Ostroushko, Andra Suchy, Vern Sutton, and Butch Thompson. Plus, Guy Noir’s adventures on the high seas, The Guy’s All-Star Shoe Band and much, much more! It was a glorious night up close with some serious talent. Le Vent du Nord are at Norwich Arts Centre tonight (24th) and Stamford Arts Centre tomorrow (25th) – catch them while you can. UK festival bookers would do well to snap them up"

On April 10, 2011, Le Vent du Nord, Les Charbonniers de l’Enfer, & Galant tu perds ton temps recorded and filmed an “open letter song” against the careless exploration of shale gas (also known as Hydraulic Fracturing or Hydrofracking). This song, written by Nicolas Boulerice, is entitled “Le diable et le fermier” (“The Devil and the Farmer”). By adding their voices to those of thousands of citizens and organizations requesting a moratorium on shale gas development in Quebec, these artists hope to make a contribution to and encourage others to join in the ongoing discussion. Band’s touring schedule disturbations
April 21, 2010
In the last week, the quartet has performed “La Part du Feu” in four European cities (Kiel and Bad Honnef in Germany; Leopoldsburg and Heist-op-den Berg in Flanders, Belgium). The group’s reputation had preceded it in these territories, and audiences have displayed an unexpectedly high level of enthusiasm. However, the large ash cloud produced by the Icelandic volcano Eyjafjallajokull has disturbed European air traffic AND the band’s touring schedule. In fact, the band is still stuck in Belgium! Under the circumstances, Le Vent reluctantly has to postpone the concert schedule at the Rogue Folk Club in Vancouver this wednesday (April 21). New date for this concert will be announced soon on this website.

Le Vent du Nord: Tradition in Motion – FRONT PAGE of the Arts & Entertainment section of LE SOLEIL
December 15, 2009
Richard Boisvert penned a very nice article in the Arts & Entertainment section of the newspaper Le Soleil (November 19 edition). “On December 10 & 11, 8pm, Le Vent du Nord will share the stage of the Grand Théâtre with the OSQ for an unheard-of symphonic adventure. The idea was tested in a scaled-down format in Portland, Maine, in 2007.… The boys more or less knew what to expect, but they say the four pieces orchestrated by Tom Myron, an American, were extremely well received. The reception was so positive, in fact, that they decided to repeat and expand the experience. So the Québec performance will be a first.” Read the whole story (in French) here:
